Albany Empire State Plaza Hotels
Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza in Albany, New York, is the heart of government operations in the state of New York. Former Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller wanted Albany, New York, to be "the most electrifying capital in the world." The plaza, which sits on 98 acres of land and is made up of 10 buildings, was completed in 1978. There is a lot to do at the plaza. Guided tours are held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. during July and August, but visitors can take self-guided tours all year round, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All tours are free. The Corning Tower Observation Deck is located on the 42nd floor of the tallest building in New York state, outside of New York City. Guests can catch views of the plaza, Albany, and the surrounding area. Ninety-two paintings, sculptures, and tapestries, which make up the Empire State Art Collection, sit all over the Empire State Plaza, in buildings and outdoor areas. Farmer's markets and craft shows are held year-round on the Empire State Plaza.Back to Albany Hotels
